Object of the game: to make the best five card high hand using
any combination from the two hole cards received, in conjunction
with the face-up "community" board cards.
Players may use one or both of their hole cards,
or may even elect to play all five community cards thereby
not using any of the hole cards. Rotating clockwise, a designated
Dealer button is used to determine the betting position, the
order of dealing the cards and order of the blinds. The Player
with the "Dealer's button" is always the last to
act. There are two blinds, a small blind and big blind. The
game commences with two cards face-down to each Player, followed
by the initial betting round. Then three "community cards"
are dealt face-up in the center of the table. These cards
are for all remaining Players to "share." (These
three cards are put out simultaneously, and this is called
the "flop".)
There is a betting round after the flop.
There is another card now dealt face-up on the board (known
as the "turn card"), followed by a third round of
betting.
The final card ("river card") is now dealt face-up,
followed by the last betting round.
